[So, you've survived your first—or fiftieth, or five-hundredth—day in Quiet Mounds. Tonight, it's raining—or, it's not. Maybe you're trying to get used to your new, quiet apartment. The electricity is buzzing in that way that's hard to ignore, a silence so loud it's deafening, in that poetic sort of way.]

[Or maybe you're one of the sad sacks still working at the 24/7 joints. Or their why-am-I-even-up-this-late customers. You're the reason why capitalism does this to people, you know.]

That is entirely possible, in the sense of how you want to be helpful. Though I'm certain there are other ways that may aid in your healing as well.

You are hurting and raw, though I do not know how or why, I have dealt with humans enough to know that even minimal support works to their benefit. Specifically in the case of socializing.

I am afraid I do not know you well enough to offer more than I have, a place to come back to or have a drink, and I don't believe there's anything you could help me with. So I can only offer you "support", and I suppose if there is nothing specific to be helped, perhaps you could do the same for others. Companionship.

[—that gets shut off after a moment as Vanyel's hand flies to his mouth, and he clamps down better on his shields]

[ stops, staring at him, a little surprised. Honestly that felt nostalgic and not in a really good way.

Comes around the table again, leaning down. ]

[he shies back, scooting the chair back and leaning away, throwing his hands up in defense]

[ stops where he is. This isn't an abnormal reaction honestly but not usually in his human form. ]

No, I don't want to hurt you.

You can't possibly hurt me.

[ a bit irritated; ]

If you can't trust yourself then trust in my power and wisdom. You can't hurt me, tiny mage.

And you can't heal me. Nobody can.

If you do not wish to change that would be true.

I do not offer healing. I cannot offer something like that. I offered only support-- if you would throw it away, that is your own choice.

Do you know what a lifebond is?

You mentioned something to that effect earlier, but I have no experience with such things.

It's a little different—from what I mentioned before. Yfandes, she's my Companion—we're bonded, yes. We're always—in each others' heads, talking, feeling. Partners.

But a lifebond—[his voice wavers a little] Is different, still. It's—finding the love of your life, the person that completes you. Until you're—you're no longer two people. It's genuinely painful to be apart, you can't think about anything but them sometimes. You can feel what they feel, your needs are their needs.
