WHAT In person or texting, I don't know, I'm not your boss
WHERE Wherever you'd be at night
WHEN Day 1, night
NOTES aj said i was allowed to make a new post
[So, you've survived your first—or fiftieth, or five-hundredth—day in Quiet Mounds. Tonight, it's raining—or, it's not. Maybe you're trying to get used to your new, quiet apartment. The electricity is buzzing in that way that's hard to ignore, a silence so loud it's deafening, in that poetic sort of way.]
[Or maybe you're one of the sad sacks still working at the 24/7 joints. Or their why-am-I-even-up-this-late customers. You're the reason why capitalism does this to people, you know.]

[looks startled, then abruptly, almost near tears again]
I wasn't—no, you've been very kind. I hadn't meant to . . .
[he just shakes his head, putting his face in his hands briefly, taking a deep breath. muffled.]
I'm sorry. I'm sorry . . .

[ quiet for a moment, before taking his teacup and offering it again. ]
Drink. And if you wish to be outside, I would like to accompany you.

[he takes the teacup, gripping firmly since his hands shake]
Not rejecting it.

[ a pause, somewhat grumbly ]
... make an attempt to be kinder in the future.

I—it's alright . . .

And in the next ten minutes? I suppose living that much would also be preferable.
Did you want to stay here for a bit longer?

If only to make up for my poor company.
no subject
But I would not say no to your company.

Oh—it's fine. Really. I'm fine.

[ thoughtful for a moment ]
I lived in the spirit realm. Heaven, whatever you might call it. As did all others like me. Dragon gods, I mean. As for what it was like... bright. Shining. Perfect. Not really a place for humans to dwell, except the ones I brought with me. I'm sure some other gods had similar pacts to uphold, but I rarely spoke to the others except when our King called upon us or our cooperation necessitated it.

When I was young and too big for my scales, I made a deal with a human village. I would bring the rains, if they went through the proper rites and offered me a human woman as sacrifice. As a "wife".
I was quite stupid.

Oh. I see.
