[ it's beginning to be summer -- or something like that, sort of. late spring? the weather has been warming up is the point and in the twilight of, well, now, the fireflies have also come out.

twinkling little stars that are actually bugs. Rather, slightly larger than the normal firefly -- in fact, perhaps they seem more like will o' the wisp sized.

But still, a lovely summer. If you follow one they may lead you (crashing into) the path of someone else.

Years and years. Ever since I heard of Bael, of Agnika Kaeiru... I wanted to transform Gjallahorn back into what it was in his era.

[He pauses at that, giving McGillis a sort of wry, unsure look.]

Haah... we somehow got tangled up with so many people with such lofty dreams.

Are you regretting that, now?

[ he's not really expecting a yes, from Orga especially. ]

Nah. I couldn't do that to those guys. The jobs didn't ever really matter, anyway.

You and Kudelia might have been thinking about how to change the world, but Tekkadan...

[this is probably WAY TOO MANY FEELINGS to have in a clothing store, and he's still idly picking at shirts but it's pretty obvious he's not wholly zoned in]

It was enough for us to create our own.

[ maybe the employees will just assume you're getting really emotional looking at shirts. he laughs but it's not mocking, more just satisfied with that response. ]

You never needed more than that, hm?

Aa... turns out it's all I ever wanted.

[He doesn't smile for that one. He's not quite that good a liar.

But he does inhale and exhale, and shake it off. Grabs a shirt and a pair of pants that are sale and seem to be the right size. Bam done.]

[GOES TO PAY AND CHANGE AND NOT AVOID FEELIOS AT ALL]

HE PATIENTLY WAITS near the exit of the store because he figures he can show him to the apartments after this ]

[ he's fine! He emerges a few minutes later dressed in slacks and a shirt and with his other stuff in a bag]

[Scratches his hand thru his hair, not awkward at all]

[ he nods, easily, turning then to leave with the expectation Orga will follow. ]

It was no trouble at all. Would you like to see the apartments...?

[Orga does in fact totally follow]

The free housing in this 'paradise'? Sure.

It's a bit difficult to believe, isn't it?

I feel like I'm supposed to be grateful, but it mostly just sounds like a bad joke.

I don't think there's anyone to be grateful to regardless. No one has any idea who... Or what runs this place.

Someone with power or death, doesn't want us to starve in the streets, but doesn't want to hear our opinions on this world, either.

It sounds like a god, doesn't it?

Hah. I never believed in any. If it's a god, if I fold my hands and pray, will it hear my request?

Judging by what I've heard, I'm not certain this god would. They seem capricious.

Then it's not much different than any other.

[Looks over at McGillis]

Truthfully .. it's odd.

[ he looks down a bit as he walks, holding out his hand open-palmed then closing it. ]

Ever since I set my sights on Bael -- on revolutionizing Gjallahorn... at home, I always had something to pursue. Even when I faltered I knew what my ultimate goal was, and that set me back on track. I followed that path to the end.

[ his hand falls back to his side as he walks. ]

Lacking that now ... it feels as if I've lost all direction.

[Listening to all of that thoughtfully. Honestly, it's a bit surprising, hearing what Orga would believe is so much open honesty from this guy.

Then again, if he's telling the truth about his previous goals, what else is there to lie about here. ]

Nothing to reform about a place where everyone has a free roof?

[ he doesn't feel a reason to be secretive about it at this point tbh. ]

I've heard there's a coffee shop owner with a torture room.

"Take him out"? That makes it sound like an assassination.

But I can't deny, it doesn't sit well with me. I've become an employee there to learn more.

I was never "caught" in Gjallahorn until I wished to be.
