WHAT texting misfires
WHERE all the heck over
WHEN 92

[ it sure is convenient just getting a cell phone handed to you when you move in, right? modern technology is great. a bunch of you have probably made some attempt to learn how the thing works (if you didn't know already) and have made all sorts of friends you keep in touch with, so the sound of an incoming text message shouldn't be all that surprising... except a quick glance shows it's from a number you don't recognize at all. huh?!

as for the people who haven't bothered messing with it at all... well, sucks to be you! those of you in that category had better learn at least how to silence it, and fast. there are a lot of texts coming in, for some reason... ]

((LET'S HAVE SOME GOOD OL' WHOLESOME TEXTS FROM LAST NIGHT SHENANIGANS FRIENDS. grab texts wholesale from the website, edit them, come up with your own, it's all good. feel free to put up multiple options too? follow your heart ♥))

Is there a reason for that?

I dislike blood and bleeding a lot. Do you actually use a sword?

[he pauses as he cuts into a carrot]

I do, but only under special circumstances.

Same. I figured, with your mural.

[Just like, casually as finishes putting on the rice to cook.]

Ah, yes... I can see how you would come to that conclusion. However, I've never used my sword to cut down an innocent. Only the twisted manifestations of humanity's desires.

[he says that, like, SO casually]

Like what exactly.

Shadows. They are monstrous creatures that are formed from the hearts of corruption. Well, not only that. They exist because humans possess all manner of desires, and if left unchecked, will only grow stronger. My friends and I have encountered numerous Shadows and the like in the Metaverse.

The Metaverse, or the Cognitive World. Ah, if Morgana were here, he would be able to explain much better. Though, we would have to translate for him.

And the Metaverse is in your brain? In someone else's brain?

It's technically in everyone's brains. But there are individuals whose own cognition is so strong that they have what's called a 'Palace'.

I don't mind, so long as you can affirm that you're not associated with law enforcement of any kind?

[he smiles a little]

I have to ask. It would be quite shameful if a member of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts was arrested over a bowl of curry.
clocked_out: (your mood ring is ALWAYS green)

artisticliberty: <user name="byob"> (the lady with the ermine)

[personal profile] artisticliberty 2018-02-14 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Hearts were our primary target, so yes. We stole corrupt desires that had manifested into destructive and horrific actions in the real world.

And that—[Makes a vague gesture, leaning on the counter next to the stove] Fixed shit?
artisticliberty: (the night watch)

[personal profile] artisticliberty 2018-02-14 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly changed things for the better. The culprit was able to realize the magnitude of their crimes and confess what they did. Without the Phantom Thieves... I might never have been free.

[he brings his hands up to rest his chin on them, hunching forward]

One of our targets was my former mentor and foster father. That was how I met them. I spent most of my life accepting the terrible things he did, excusing him out of some misguided sense of obligation, out of the fear that I had nowhere else to go... but I could not lie to myself forever. They helped me to realize that, and I swore vengeance upon him.

What—What happened?

[Dave just sort of, unconsciously, grabs the counter behind him. Keyed up to nearly vibrating between the sudden personal turn in the story and Yusuke's posture basically demanding a hug.]

It worked. I was afraid, at first, that I would be unable to oppose him, having owed him my life and livelihood for so long... but after seeing what sort of man he truly was--someone obsessed with his own wealth, willing to exploit and manipulate others for his own personal gain, a man who watched my mother die only so he could inherit her greatest work and pass it off as his own--

[yusuke's voice has taken on an icy tenor]

That man was not someone I was willing to forgive. We stole his heart, and he came to know remorse for the years of atrocities he had committed. He's in prison now, where he belongs.

[... and then, he softens a bit]

I didn't have anything tying me to him anymore, after that. I will not say my life became easier after that, but... it was certainly better.

[Comes over to just, awkwardly pat his shoulder before scurrying back to stir the curry.]

As far as guardian ejection goes, that sounds pretty sweet.
