[ The weather has calmed down and it's actually a nice temperature with a slight breeze -- someone has set up a beer garden in the park! There's beer, cider and mead from kegs -- and no one is checking ID.

There's also a variety of food -- mostly typical bbq stuff, hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled corn and so forth but there is also probably something very particular and nostalgic from your childhood or past on the buffet tables. Maybe it's something like a particular brand of military rations, a space fruit that only grows on Mars, whatever.

It doesn't seem odd at all; my little brother was very fond of sweets at her age. A couple of the coffee shops serve pastries, and there's a shop in the mall.

[A man is standing here. He's completely fixed, an absolute wax statue, his eyes such a pale lavender that it's hard to make them out against the whites of his eyes.

That's not the weirdest thing about him. He looks human at first glance, but any more than that makes his appearance seem very uncanny. His hair, including his thick eyelashes, are a brilliant blood red, his skin is absolutely chalk white, and he... does not appear to have fingernails. I mean, besides that, he's gorgeous, though; very tall, with broad shoulders, a slim waist, and he carries himself with an almost eerie grace.

After a long moment of just staring, he appears to come to life, smiling abruptly and brilliantly as he approaches you]
