WHAT 10/10 would post again
WHERE Everywhere
WHEN Day 144

[Today there are little bubbles popping up whenever you're near someone. They seem like . . . testimonials or reviews? Like "X is a great person, excellent listener. Only four and a half stars because they sing too loudly in the shower." If you've only just met, it's just your first impression. Or maybe you can check out the bubbles that are now attached to that person, so you can decide if you're interested.]

[whenever you jump someone in the post, include your character's, uh, honest mental review of them, at the top of the comment. also free to assume you can see other peoples' unless otherwise stated]

I'd say anytime, but please don't make getting beaten up like that a habit.

I'd prefer not to, but I appreciate the offer. It seems RK900 is... relaxing.

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-21 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, nice understatement. Yes.

It seemed rude to inflate things now that he's doing better. I hope we can be friends, if he gets to a place where he wants to be.

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-21 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
I hope so, too.

Do you want to come over and get a bit more work done on your standby program today?
negotiatoronsite: (pic#12387589)

[personal profile] negotiatoronsite 2018-07-21 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
[ lighting up! ]

Are you sure you have time?
morethanyou: (007)

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-21 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely! You know, working with your software is a lot of fun for me, it's fascinating.

[ he smiles ]

Then yes, please.

[ walking that way! ]

Do you mind if I ask you something?
morethanyou: (064)

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-21 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all!

[walking!]

[ he takes a moment to choose his wording ]

In your opinion, seeing my programming as it is currently, are my emotions equivalent to a human's? Or do they appear to be an error? I'm not certain CyberLife was ever honest with me about the nature of deviancy.
morethanyou: (065)

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-21 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
They certainly don't appear to be an error. Even if they're an adaptation, they're fully integrated with your programming and they don't appear to be degrading it in any way. Whether they're equivalent to a human's... they're based in different processes, of course, so I can't make a definitive statement about that. But... from what I've seen between the coding and your behaviour? I don't mean to be flippant about it, but really, my best answer is... ehhh, close enough.

[ nods quietly for a moment, smiling a little to himself ]

Thank you, Shuri. As you can imagine, it's something I've given a great deal of thought to lately.
morethanyou: (014)

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-21 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I hope that was a satisfactory answer.

[personal profile] negotiatoronsite 2018-07-22 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
It was. I know it's a grey area, but calling deviancy a virus felt... shallow. I wanted an objective professional opinion.
morethanyou: (058)

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-22 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
A virus? That's not even close to accurate.
morethanyou: (076)

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-22 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
A virus is a piece of code that can replicate itself and has a detrimental effect, yes? I see no evidence that either of those apply. I seriously doubt this is a single piece of code that was copied from android to android and gave you emotional agency... I suspect your ability to adapt and learn allowed you to develop it through experience. And it hasn't made you less functional. So how is it a virus?
negotiatoronsite: (3)

[personal profile] negotiatoronsite 2018-07-22 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
[ considers that ]

You may be right. The standard rules of deviancy don't apply to me...
morethanyou: (009)

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-22 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Obviously I don't have anything to compare, here, but... if deviancy was normally spread as a piece of transmitted code, then... no, I would say not.
negotiatoronsite: (8)

[personal profile] negotiatoronsite 2018-07-22 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he nods ]

That's a relief. Hopefully the same is true for RK900.
morethanyou: (010)

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-22 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's a reasonable hope to have.
negotiatoronsite: (pic#12387579)

[personal profile] negotiatoronsite 2018-07-22 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Good. At thanks to you, there no longer a rush to get him there.
morethanyou: (065)

[personal profile] morethanyou 2018-07-23 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Right! Now he has leeway to process.
