[A very unusual-looking cutie is standing in the foyer of the Tidy Living apartments today. You definitely haven't seen them before. They are repeatedly pressing the elevator button, then jumping when it opens]

But I don't get it... I know the ding means get in, but who's opening and closing the doors...? Is someone here raising and lowering it? Ahh, and when I went upstairs, it was completely incomprehensible...

How does it... work automatically?

Well, you hit the button. That sends a little electrical signal basically telling the elevator, 'hey, come down here'. When it gets to the bottom floor it sends a signal to the doors going, 'hey, open up'. They'll close on their own after a while to give people time to get inside. Then when you hit the button inside, that's telling it, 'hey, go up'. So it does.
