[So, you've been messing around with time.]

[Okay, we've actually been doing that, yeah. Quiet Mounds is still a bit unpredictable, with the seasons and the clocks a little haywire. Today, there's another little pulse of magic. Maybe some of you find yourself back to normal? Or maybe more people are suddenly the wrong age or timeline. Maybe Deadpool shows up. I don't know.]

About me . . . well, the "demon from hell" part has been covered. Though, honestly, I've been playing hooky from hell more than I've been there.

I-is that. Allowed?

[he laughs]

It was not allowed, no.

I-I guess it's, uh, fine if you don't, er, get caught?

Unfortunately, I was. So this is a nice little vacation, here . . .

Ahh. I'm... s-sorry. By definition that's, er, unpleasant.

[immediately visibly kicking himself. Hell, unpleasant, Booth? You think?]

[he just laughs a little]

Yeah. Well, I had a good run. I hung around Earth as much as I could. Picked up hobbies, jobs. I love to read.

[almost shy] What do you like?

That's always hard to narrow down, isn't it? I've read a lot in my time. Let's see, though . . . probably stories that give me a glimpse of something I haven't seen before. Humans are fascinating in their constant creativity—questioning things, imagining things, re-imagining them. I like fiction that's some kind of meta-commentary, where I can see how that story grew out of an author's life or desires or socio-political reality.

[oh god I wonder if older me is in love with him.]

T-they are. And I think, most fiction is. Ah. Must be? Even if it's, er, frivolous. The connection is, er, just, not as clear?

Right. Sometimes it's even more telling—the things people write simply because they want to enjoy themselves.

R-right, that. I might, er, not always enjoy it, but, ah, something not being for me doesn't mean. That it's not, ah, for them.

There's a lot of time and effort that goes into writing a book. I mean, I enjoy other things people make as well, so that's just part of it. Obviously there's more unique things that interest me—

[he seems like he could just go on chattering about books, all the while kind of gazing at Booth—adoringly?]

[g-gazes back, completely charmed. Thoroughly seduced.]

S-such as—?

Music's a big one? Technology—technology is fascinating. Physical books are still an experience in and of themselves, but did you know that you can now read and access millions of books from a device in the palm of your hand?

[wheeze] You can what?

[pulls out his phone and scrolls to the Kindle app]

[blinks] What are... where do the pages go?

They're electricity. Data. It basically just stores information in a very small space based on electricity, technology, and then displays to you letters and patterns.

F-fascinating.... S-so much could be d-done...
