[ If you're out and about earlier in the day, you'll come across several kiosks around Quiet Mounds that are decked out in pre-party paraphernalia. There's bottles of champagne with fancy thin stemmed glasses. There's party poppers, bags of confetti, party hats, blah blah, you get the drift. It should be noted that some bottles of champagne have unintended results like "must tell the truth" or "compulsively needy for physical affection" or "feeling very warm and also the need to take off all your clothes" or other fun effects. If you share a drink with someone you may feel their feelings (everyone loves empathy) or accidentally take a trip down memory lane together (woo exciting).

There's also some podiums that have fancy paper, or plain notebook paper, or scrolls, whatever and lots of writing utensils. Time to write down your New Year Resolutions! Just beware, that whatever you write you'll have to actually adhere to for like a week. . . have fun if you write down like "stop drinking and run 7 miles a day".

Later, you'll see some gorgeous fireworks that may or may not spell out your darkest secrets but in big, beautiful, sparkly lights for everyone to see. Or they may just be normal fireworks, you know, roulette. ]

At least it seems to be leveling off. Still feels like it's about a hundred degrees in here, though.

I'm definitely thinking it was the champagne.

Here and the alcohol was about my favorite thing here so far.

Well, this time. I was thinking of the Christmas party.

[Bucky bites her lip at that, shifting the glass to her forehead to hide her face.]

The Christmas party was good.

It was pretty good.

[there's some hesitation again, like he's choosing his words deliberately]

I did get to dance with a real pretty girl.

She didn't step on your toes too much?

No, not at all.

She was pretty light on her feet.

I seem to remember her getting a little tripped up.

If she was, I didn't notice.

Now, that's a lie.

No lie, I promise.

You know...

[pausing, because she's not sure this is the time to say this. especially not barely dressed. but...]

The girl might be open to another dance.

[cautiously hopeful...??]

The first one didn't scare her off?

She's tougher than she looks.

She is a tough girl.

[bowing her head with a soft laugh]
