[So for those of you who aren't forgetting yourselves, you might notice a new face in Quiet Mounds today. He seems to be making the rounds, by which I mean he's literally running at superhuman speed up and down every single street in town, looking increasingly confused and distressed when they all lead him on an endless loop.]

That can't be the same coffee shop...can it?

It's pretty disturbing, honestly. I'm not exactly a fan of the way it messes with one's perceptions.

I can't say I'm a fan of it either, but it looks like learning to live with it's the only option on the table.

The only one I've found so far. It's insular and circular and a bit claustrophobic, but it's not actively harmful that I've seen.

That's a Terran death belief, isn't it? I've certainly not died.

I haven't either, but the whole idea of it is winding up stuck for eternity in a place that's not good or bad, it just is.

It's possible that it's eternity but that seems... unlikely? If whoever has us here doesn't do something within a couple hundred years, I'd be surprised.

Though, as I understand it, purgatory is by its nature temporary, so perhaps I should be hoping your friend is right.

He's been here fifty years, so it's at least been going that long.

That's... not so long if you've got a lifespan longer than a Terran, though. Fifty years is barely time for an experiment to get started.

As much as I don't like to admit it, it seems like wait and see might be our best option.

You know I usually see people going more for the sugar side on those.

Saline deficiency. Mixing it into things is more pleasant than swallowing straight salt.
