which is to say, the entire town is darkly overcast and gloomy, and starting in the morning, there are scattered showers intermittently around the town. it's light enough that it isn't bothersome, barely noticeable, really, but you may find yourself feeling a bit different after you've past through one. like it's taken a few years off your life— quite literally.

Ohhh... I'm sorry, Mikk, but I think you're a long way from there. I think you'll be able to go back before long, though.

...I know it must be scary, but do you want to come wait somewhere comfortable until then?

[shrugs]

I don't know why I'm offworld.

I don't know why either, but I promise it won't be for more than a day or two.

[whispers] Okay. I guess it's fine. They didn't send me here?

[considers, then shakes his head]

I think there was probably some kind of strange mix-up. Let's find somewhere to sit down, okay?

[leading him to, idk, a park gazebo or something, somewhere quiet and sheltered and not busy.]

Are you warm enough, Mikk?

I'm okay.

Okay. Let me know if you get hungry or thirsty, all right?

I won't need any. It's all right.

Well, okay.

[unsure, but. just gonna sit quietly and let him absorb the situation for a minute.]

[Watches her with a cautious air, waiting. He seems a little afraid of her.]

[after awhile, gently]

Am I making you nervous...?

I'm sorry. You're very nice.

It's okay. Do you mind if I ask what you're nervous about?

[whispers] I'm just like this? It bothers people. I'm sorry.

You don't need to apologize, you're not doing anything wrong. I just wondered if there was something I could do to make you more comfortable, like if we got to know each other a little better, or if I told you a bit about this place.

[he's still whispering] I would like to know more, thank you.

Okay... well, this town is called Quiet Mounds. It's a peaceful community. I'm a teacher at the school here.
