[So how do you feel about getting into the holiday spirit? Because with all that wine around from the Bingo victories someone's put a sign up outside Heavenly Grounds today advertising a ~holiday party~ There's festive decorations with mulled wine, hot toddies, spiked egg nog. You name it, it's there to get you plastered.

And I guess there's cookies and fruit cake and stuff too, but who needs food when there's drinking?]

Then what is it?

Thor thought he was doing the right thing when he went against the orders of Odin All-father, and stormed Jotunheim, killing many of them and near starting a new war. I thought I was in the right when I turned the Bifrost upon Jotunheim; it would have ended the war between our people for good, without ever losing another Asgardian soldier. Ultron thought he was doing the right thing in his attempt to wipe out humanity.

No damage is worse than that which happens when one always does what he thinks is right.

And what about what helps people who need it? When you're protecting those who can't protect themselves?

Is that what you were doing?

This isn't about what happened with Tony.

Again: it's about you, who you are, and what you'd do.

Have you really never regretted anything you've done before? Haven't you learned from your mistakes?

Oh, yes. But I'm not certain you think at all yourself in the wrong, which makes that whole question a moot point.

I don't think hurting Tony was the right thing to do.

No? What would you have done differently? Knowing everything you do now, what would you have changed?

I would have told him the truth about Bucky. I would have let him know what happened to his parents.

Did you know? Did you withhold the information deliberately?

I knew—I thought I was protecting him.

What happens the next time you find out something? And the next? Retrospect, I'm afraid, is killer.

I'm not going to keep things from him.

I find that incredibly hard to believe, you and your protective instincts.
