[So how do you feel about getting into the holiday spirit? Because with all that wine around from the Bingo victories someone's put a sign up outside Heavenly Grounds today advertising a ~holiday party~ There's festive decorations with mulled wine, hot toddies, spiked egg nog. You name it, it's there to get you plastered.

And I guess there's cookies and fruit cake and stuff too, but who needs food when there's drinking?]

True...well, I don't expect an approximation would be terribly difficult to synthesize.

It can't be too different form other mulled wine recipes, that's true.

Not so well as some, but I am an alchemist. Many of the skills transfer.

Haha! That is true, isn't it? Alchemy, chemistry, and cooking all overlap with their practices.

What kind of alchemy do you specialize in? I assume not spices and herbs.

Not per se, no. My interests are rather broad; if I have a specialty, it might be described as "materialization and concentration of mana".

That can depend... Humans can become very proficient in magic through spellcraft, but it's not wound into their being likes fairies and demons.

By what source would a human power magic, then? Do they contract with other beings, such as you mentioned?

Contracts are one way, but not one I would recommend. That ends in misery more often than not. Many work through prayer or other appeals... But prayer can also give power to divine beings. There's not really one single source of it.

I see...for those in my world, prayer and sacrament are simply another system of thaumaturgy, though a wide-spread and well-established one. The fuel of all such systems is mana.

There's a person at home who has probably studied the systems more thoroughly than I have, but we're not on speaking terms... Magic is a second nature to me, so I haven't made a study of it myself.

I had assumed so, given what you've told me thus far...I can understand why it wouldn't have seemed a pressing inquiry.
