WHAT An autumn day in the park

WHEN Day 57, probably

[It's a bit chilly, but the air is crisp and leaves crunch underfoot if you're making your way through the park—on an #aesthetic walk, maybe, taking pictures for Instagram.]

[There . . . was a 20-year-old farmhand hanging out on a bench playing around with an acoustic guitar, occasionally working up to a melody. But now there's an older-looking gentleman wearing the same clothes, with mostly-white hair and looking, uh, very confused.]

[. . . after a moment he just haltingly finishes off that song. Because what else do you do in this sort of situation.]

[he shies back even more, reaching down to clutch Stefen's hands, but staying apart]

You're—flattering an old man.

I am definitely not doing that.

[he's not... pushing it, because he, you know. Remembers. But. All the panic is sort of giving way to a lusty relief]

I'm glad I'm still wanted.

Um, do you really have no idea how gorgeous you are.

[flusters a little]

Well, you did just have the benefit of me being twenty . . .

Vanyel. [cups his cheeks] You're perfect. You're my love. Exactly as you are.

. . . I'm glad. I love you, ashke.

I've missed you.

[looks at him a bit oddly, then slowly nods]

Have you...?

[rests his cheek on Vanyel's shoulder]

[strokes his hair gently]

I feel like it's been so long since we could be ourselves together. Or perhaps, maybe this is . . . the first time we could be everything.

Everything, huh... Maybe. I'm not sure. I love you, I loved the smaller you, but this is... [gestures] the you I fell in love with.

I'm . . . I want to try to give you everything you deserve. Everything I want to share. I really never did . . .

I felt like you gave me as much as you could. But... you'd know best. [wry]

As much as I could isn't quite enough.

You see . . . I've always had to split my attention. And I realize—I realize it wasn't always fair. In fact, it rarely was. But not for lack of loving you. Not ever that . . .

If you'll forgive me, I'll take this opportunity to be yours.

I don't think ... splitting your attention because there's something you're passionate about doing is a bad thing...?
