[ This morning a fog has descended on the town, the kind of fog that makes it hard to see more than 20 feet in front of you and makes everything look foreign.

...In fact, it seems to make things look especially foreign, somehow. You might find yourself walking the few blocks from your apartment to school that you've done a hundred times and staring at an intersection that you feel like you've never seen before, or seeing the chapel peek out of the mist when you swear you were on the way to the mall.

Or maybe you're just drinking some coffee and taking pictures of the spooky weather with your phone from inside. ]

[You can find Cassica:

A) Getting a pumpkin spice latte at Heavenly Grounds, apparently unironically, and sitting around to drink it while clearly people-watching;

B) Making her third wrong turn and cursing quietly to herself while in some kind of maid uniform with too much leather in it.]

Damn it, at this rate I'm gonna be late...

[ he's not paying enough attention and bumps into her on that third wrong turn -- quickly steps back, going to apologize before he's caught .. a bit ... by the outfit ... ]

[She jumps, but after she turns to look at him she gives him a quick look over and then smiles.]

Don't worry, I wasn't lookin' where I was goin' either. Or, uh, I was, but...

[ a quiet laugh, not seeming the mind the look. ]

You seemed preoccupied. Are you lost ... ?

Apparently. There's somethin' weird goin' on. My sense of direction is great. Plus there's barely enough of this place to get lost in the first place.

[B! he almost bumps into her as she rounds the corner]

Oh—hey, Cassica. Where are you headed?

Work. I'm doin' a trial at the cat cafe in the mall. Or, will be if I can manage to get there.

Well. That doesn't sound like the oddest thing that's happened here.

I could try to help you look.

...Wouldn't mind the help. Maybe it'll go better with a second set of eyes.

Isn't the mall right down there?

[she turns to look. she can't actually see the mall but that does look like the right direction]

...Yeah? Just, I keep gettin' turned around somehow.

And if we both can't find it, I'd be more inclined to blame this place.

Yeah? You don't believe it just by me sayin' it?

[half playful and half for-real annoyed]

Ah -- I phrased that poorly, didn't I? I assumed you were new.

Ohhh. I hate it when that happens! And it's your first day?

No. Or, not that new, anyway. I've been here a week or so, I was headin' to work.

[after a moment of consideration, she looks down at herself]

...It's 'cosplay.'

[she says the word like she's not particularly familiar with it]

Nah, it's been most of a week so far. But still not really the right time to be strollin' in late, prob'ly.

Probably not! At least you can blame the fog. Want to see if we have better luck together?

I've worn stuff more out there than this, but not normally, no.

Yeah, for now. It might change up? I don't really know anythin' about this cosplay thing, I just wear what they give me.
